Public Defenders’ Scheme

The President of the Isle of Man Law Society raises concerns about the proposed introduction of a Public Defenders’ Scheme.

The Law Society must promote the interests of the public in relation to legal matters as laid down in the Advocates Acts 1995.  The Council of the Law Society are very concerned about the proposal for a Public Defenders’ Scheme and outlined their concerns to Tynwald in a briefing paper.  Please see attached link for a copy of the paper that was sent to all members of Tynwald and details the concerns of the Society. Briefing Note .
